Jobe is the work of Eoin Madsen. From Celbridge in Co. Kildare, Eoin has a background in sound engineering and music technology. The shadow in the sky is the first record in the Jobe project.

The shadow in the sky was written and arranged between November 2005 and December of 2008. The recording and mixing of the album took place over 11 months, finishing in late January 2009. While producing the record, Eoin also worked on the album's photography and booklet design, watched approximately four hundred episodes of various television shows, and consumed an estimated 37 kilograms of assorted confectionary products.

The album weighs 0.78 newtons in standard Earth gravity.

There is an idea that if you create something from a feeling – if you give it life and immortalise it in some tangible form – then that creation belongs to the world. And that feeling belongs to the ether. I made this album because I didn't want these feelings to belong to me. Ultimately, it must be its own explanation, because if I could have expressed my feelings in any other way, I would never have needed to make music. I've tried to express my feelings truthfully, untempered and unreserved – honest, as only melodrama can be.
